The Mood - Spring 2003

Although fewer than half of Wisconsin
residents continue to think things are
on the right track statewide, 74% now
think things in their communities are on
the right track, up from 63% a year ago.

Almost half of respondents are optimistic
that things will get better for them in the
next year.

Summary

In spite of their increased pessimism over jobs and the economy, three out of four respondents (74%) say that things in their communities are on the right track. Just 43% say that things in the country as a whole are on the right track and 46% think things in Wisconsin are on the right track. Moreover, almost half (49%) report that they expect things to get better for them over the next year. Most optimistic are people with incomes of $40,000 a year or more.
