Jobs and the economy are
bigger problems today than they were a year ago, but state residents
look to the future with optimism.
More than half of
respondents in 2002 were optimistic in their outlook over the next year.
In 2003, almost half (49%) of respondents say that they expect their
personal situation to get better in the next year.
Summary
Wisconsin confronts serious economic challenges. Most important among
them are the availability of good jobs and holding down health care and
health care coverage costs. Nevertheless, state residents maintain a
positive outlook. They believe that life in their communities is good,
they feel safe, and they are satisfied with their access to high-quality
local services. The quality of life that these services support prompts
state residents to view cuts in services with a wary eye.
