Homeownership - Spring 2003

A strong majority of state residents think homes are affordable to buy or rent. Regardless of education or income, a similar majority of respondents express satisfaction with the costs of renting or buying a home in both 2002 and 2003.

Fewer respondents are planning to change residence in 2003 than were planning a move in 2002.

Summary

The economics of the housing market remain strong. Four out of five state residents say they are satisfied with the costs of owning or renting their homes – two in five are very satisfied. This is especially significant in light of the fact that economic concerns are increasing and satisfaction with local property taxes remains low.
