Health Care

When it comes to economics, health care is an important factor profoundly affecting quality of life. On the economic side, almost half of respondents (47%) think they are paying too much and are dissatisfied with what they have to pay for health care. On the service side, satisfaction is higher. Two out of three respondents are satisfied with the services they get for their health care dollars, 83% are satisfied with their access to health care. A strong majority of state residents are satisfied with their access to quality care and to the doctor of their choice (83% and 84%, respectively). Almost nine in ten are satisfied with their access to a hospital or clinic of their choice.

As with other key services like education and police and fire protection, respondents say they are getting a quality product, but the price is high. The question remains, at what point do the scales that now point to a high quality of life for state residents begin to tip the other way?
